Is it too late to write about the weekend? Let's say it isn't. Mr. F. and I braved the madness that is the Cherry Blossom Festival in D.C. You will notice that I have only taken close-up pictures of the cherry blossoms. That is because the close-up view was the only clear shot due to the MASS OF HUMANITY crammed into our nations capitol on Saturday.
Here is a little word of advice. If you ever want to see the Cherry Blossom Festival, go on a weekday or very early in the morning. Perhaps both. The lines to every necessity of life (food, drink, bathroom) were hideously long. Luckily we were up there to see friends and so the hour long wait for lunch (which consisted of too fishy pad thai and cornstarchy and oily lo mein) and the half hour long wait for the bathroom gave us a chance to catch up. (And don't get me started on the whole bathroom conspiracy that is prevalent in the United States. Haven't people learned by now that you need twice or three times the number of stalls in the woman's bathroom than in the mens? Aghh!)
The evening was topped off by watching As You Like It. So all in all, a very "Japan as interpreted by Caucasians" type of day.
